Action: During the Server Inventory installation, choose to view the installation log files.
After installation, you can also check the log files in the c:\documents and settings\administrator\local settings\temp direcory to ensure that no errors are reported.
Action: Check to see if the Inventory Service object is created. In Novell eDirectoryTM, check if the container having the NCPTM server object contains the Inventory Service object (Inventory Service_server_name_).
Action: Check to see if the Scan directory (SCANDIR) is created and shared on the Inventory server and has the required rights.
