34.1 Understanding the Upgrade Components

When you upgrade using a Server Software Package, you use a .cpk upgrade file, which is a compiled Server Software Package (CPK). You have two options:

Create a Software Package Distribution for each CPK, then send this Distribution to all of the Subscriber servers that you want to upgrade with that particular CPK’s content.
Individually upgrade each server’s Desktop Management software with the applicable CPKs using the Standalone Package Processor executable.

This option is useful when you do not have ZENworks Server Management installed on a server, because Server Management is required for sending, receiving, and installing CPK Distributions.

The following CPKs are provided for upgrading to ZENworks 7 Desktop Management with SP1:

Table 34-1 ZENworks Desktop Management Upgrade CPKs

CPK File	Description
c1-zen7-snap.cpk	The ZENworks 7 Desktop Management with SP1 snap-ins for updating ConsoleOne®. This is useful for automatically installing the snap-ins to the different instances of ConsoleOne running on many servers.
language-agent.cpk	The Language Agent MSI files (one for each supported language) for all supported platforms: ChineseS-agent.cpk ChineseT-agent.cpk Deutsch-agent.cpk English-agent.cpk Espanol-agent.cpk Francais-agent.cpk NihongoS-agent.cpk Portugue-agent.cpk These CPKs only copy the MSI files so that they are accessible when needed. The CPKs do not run the Windows Installer. If you group these individual agent CPKs into one Distribution, you can automate a mass file copy of the agent MSI files for each language to designated servers. This is useful when rolling out the language agents of your choice to your workstations.
startinv.cpk	Starts Inventory services after upgrading, including restarting the Sybase database. This is a helper CPK for zdn7bksp1.cpk and zdnc7bksp1.cpk.
startwol.cpk	Starts the Wake-on-LAN service after upgrading the service. This is a helper CPK for zdn7bksp1.cpk and zdnc7bksp1.cpk.
stopinv.cpk	Stops Inventory services before upgrading, including stopping the Sybase database without prompting. This is a helper CPK for zdn7bksp1.cpk and zdnc7bksp1.cpk.
stopwol.cpk	Stops the Wake-on-LAN service before upgrading the service. This is a helper CPK for zdn7bksp1.cpk and zdnc7bksp1.cpk.
zdl7mbcksp1.cpk	Automatically upgrades the Desktop Management Server and Middle Tier components installed on Novell Open Enterprise Server (OES) Linux servers.
zdn7bksp1.cpk	Upgrades the Desktop Management Server component installed on NetWare® servers (including OES NetWare). The Software Package Distributions for stopinv.cpk, startinv.cpk, stopwol.cpk, and startwol.cpk must be used in conjunction with this CPK’s Software Package Distribution in order to automatically stop and start the processes so that the upgrade is allowed to finish unattended.
zdn7midsp1.cpk	Upgrades the Middle Tier component installed on NetWare servers (including OES NetWare).
zdnc7bksp1.cpk	Upgrades the Desktop Management Server component installed on a NetWare server cluster (including OES NetWare). The Software Package Distributions for stopinv.cpk, startinv.cpk, stopwol.cpk, and startwol.cpk must be used in conjunction with this CPK’s Software Package Distribution in order to automatically stop and start the processes so that the upgrade is allowed to finish unattended.
zdw7bksp1.cpk	Upgrades the Desktop Management Server component installed on Windows servers.
zdw7midsp1.cpk	Upgrades the Middle Tier component installed on Windows servers.
