45.0 Uninstalling ZENworks Components on a Linux Server

The Novell® ZENworks® 7 Desktop Management Services on Linux includes a script for uninstalling Desktop Management components. This section includes instructions that explain the uninstall procedure.

NOTE:The information in this section also applies to ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Services on Linux with Support Pack 1.

IMPORTANT:If you want to uninstall the Workstation Inventory components, see Section 44.0, Uninstalling or Reinstalling Workstation Inventory.

Use the following steps to uninstall ZENworks from a Linux server:

  1. From the terminal console, use the su command to switch to the root user.

  2. Change the directory to /opt/novell/zenworks/Uninstall\ ZENworks\ Desktop\ Management.

  3. Run ./Uninstall_ZENworks\ Desktop\ Management to display the first screen of the ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Services on Linux uninstall program.

    This will remove features installed by InstallAnywhere.  It will not remove files and folders created after the installation.

  4. Press Enter to continue the uninstall process.

    The Uninstall Options screen is displayed.

  5. (Optional) Enter 1 to completely remove all features and components without further input.

  6. (Optional) Enter 2 to choose specific features that were previously installed.

    Choosing option 2 displays the Choose Product Feature screen.

    Check the features that you want to uninstall. Unchecked features will remain installed.:
    
  7. Enter the number or numbers in a comma-separated list representing the feature or features that you would like to select or deselect for uninstalling.

    An X in the feature list indicates the feature is selected for uninstall. If the feature is not selected, it remains installed.

  8. Press Enter when you have finished selecting the features you want.

    The uninstall Summary screen is displayed. For example, the following screen is displayed if you selected Application Management feature for uninstallation:

  9. Press Enter to accept the default.

    The features you selected are uninstalled from the Linux server.

IMPORTANT:If you want to completely remove ZENworks7 Desktop Management services from your Linux cluster, you need to perform the following steps:

  1. Remove all files under the \zdm directory on the cluster shared disk/volume.

  2. Remove the zdmstart command from the cluster resource load script.

  3. Remove the zdmstop command from the cluster resource unload script.
