What's New in This Release

ZfH 5 introduces the following new features:

eDirectory Integration

eDirectory is a scalable, secure directory service. It can store and manage millions of objects, such as users, applications, network devices, and data. eDirectory natively supports the directory standard Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) version 3 over Secure Socket Layer (SSL).

ZfH objects stored in the eDirectory tree include the following:

ConsoleOne Integration

ConsoleOne is a Java*-based administration tool that you can use to flexibly manage Novell products, including ZfH. ConsoleOne provides a single point of administration for your network resources.

ZfH 4.7 used the ZfH Console as the administration tool. If you used ZfH 4.7 and other Novell products, such as ZfD, two administration tools were required for the two products (the ZfH Console and ConsoleOne). With ZfH 5, you can use the same administration tool for all of your Novell ZENworks products.

ConsoleOne can be installed on any number of computers so that you can give other administrators or help desk staff access to ZfH from multiple locations on your network.

For more information about ConsoleOne, see the ConsoleOne documentation Web site.

Policy-Based Management

A ZfH policy is a set of rules that defines how handheld devices can be configured and controlled, including security options, application availability, file retrieval, and more.

For a complete list of ZfH policies and their descriptions, see Understanding ZfH Policies .
