Installing Java Virtual Machine 1.3.1 from the ZENworks for Servers Companion CD

To check the current Java* Virtual Machine (JVM*) version on a NetWare server, enter:

java -version

at the server console prompt.

If you have installed NetWare 6 Support Pack 1, you already have JVM 1.3.1. If you are still running the original release of NetWare 6, you need to update to JVM 1.3.1.

If you are running NetWare 5.1 with either Support Pack 3 or 4, you need to update to JVM 1.3.1.

To install JVM 1.3.1

  1. On each NetWare server where you need to update the JVM, unload JAVA.NLM.

For example, at a server's console prompt, enter:

    java -exit

  2. At a Windows workstation, insert the ZENworks for Servers Companion CD into the CD drive.

  3. Browse to the JVM subdirectory of the CD.

  4. Run JVM131.EXE for each NetWare server where you need to update the JVM.

The JVM Installation Wizard will identify eligible servers to update.
