KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) is a relatively new and simple virtualization engine for x86 systems, which gives the Linux kernel native virtualization capabilities. Although KVM has yet to prove enterprise readiness, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 offers a technical preview of KVM for testing purposes.

Paravirtualization is a technique for increasing the performance of virtualized systems. The SUSE Linux Enterprise Virtual Machine Driver Pack makes it easier for Windows and Linux IT professionals to adopt Xen for virtualization in production environments. With SUSE Linux Enterprise 11, the Virtual Machine Driver Pack includes drivers for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 on Xen, allowing you to run these operating systems on Xen with near-native performance.
