Jason Williams lays it on the line with OES2. I felt like OES1 in 2005 was a good first step but not compelling enough for most customers to consider migrating from NetWare 6.5 to OES1 Linux. That point of view will be changed with the release of OES2 Linux. I ran the OES2 Beta5 and it installed and ran without a single problem…even put NSS volumes on the same physical disk as the rest of OES2 Linux using EVMS, which is not recommended, but worked flawlessly.

I’ve been installing and supporting NetWare since 1985. This release of OES2 is right up there with NetWare 3, which gave us NLMs, NetWare 4, which brought us NDS, NetWare 5, which brought us “pure tcp/ip” support and NetWare 6 which brought us eDirectory and introduced popular open source software on NetWare. Novell has turned the page on NetWare with the release of OES2.
