10.1 Installing Samba Basic

  1. Click Install under Available Software.

  2. Click Basic, then click Next.

  3. Specify basic configurations for your system.

    • Workgroup or Domain Name: Specify the name of the workgroup that your server belongs to.

    • User Container: Specify the base LDAP container for users. This is where the Samba domain object is stored.

    • Emulate NT4 Domain Controller: Specify if Samba should act as the Primary Domain Controller (PDC).

  4. Review the settings. To make a change, click Back. To proceed with the installation, click Next.

  5. The Samba installation is now complete. Click Finish to proceed to the available software page. Samba is now listed on the installed software list and can be administered from the Samba administration link.
