DirXML Driver for NIS

The DirXML® Driver for NIS is a solution to synchronize network-wide user and group information between eDirectory and traditional UNIX* data stores such as Files, NIS, and NIS+. This configurable solution gives organizations the power to streamline business processes through the seamless synchronization of user and group accounts in UNIX and eDirectory.

This document is for Novell® eDirectoryTM administrators, DirXML administrators, and UNIX administrators who are using the DirXML Driver for NIS.

Documentation Conventions

The term driver refers to all components of DirXML Driver for NIS and not to any one particular component.

In this document, the term NIS is used to refer to Files, NIS(YP) and NIS+.

In Novell documentation, a greater-than symbol (>) is used to separate actions within a step and items in a cross-reference path.

A trademark symbol (®, TM, etc.) denotes a Novell trademark. An asterisk (*) denotes a third-party trademark.
