Install and Upgrade Issues

You can not add additional nodes to an existing cluster with this Beta release of NetWare^® 6. This will be fixed for the final release of NetWare 6 SP1.

There are a number of scenarios that will require you to create a new CD image in order to install or upgrade Novell^® Cluster Services^TM.

• If you installed a brand new NetWare^® 6 SP1 cluster on existing NetWare 6 servers that were upgraded to NetWare 6 SP1.

  The CD image will provide all the fixes in the install, which are otherwise present only if you run the cluster install from the NetWare 6 CD via Deployment Manager.

• If you want to do a one-step upgrade from NetWare 5.1 to NetWare 6 SP1 without having to go to NetWare 6.0 first and then upgrade from NetWare 6.0 to NetWare 6 SP1.

  The CD image will prevent you from having to do a two-step NetWare 5.1 to NetWare 6SP1 upgrade.

Creating a New CD Image

Complete the following steps to create a new CD image that will fix the problems described in the above scenarios.

1. Copy the NetWare 6 CD image to a directory on a server.

2. Copy the CLUSTER.ZIP file from the NI\ZIP directory at the root of the NetWare 6 SP1 image to the NI\ZIP directory at the root of the NetWare 6 CD image on your server.

3. Copy the PRODUCTS\NCS directory from the root of the NetWare 6 SP1 image over the PRODUCTS\NCS directory at the root of the NetWare 6 CD image on your server.

4. Run the Cluster Services installation via NWDEPLOY.EXE (Deployment Manager) from the new image you just created.
