Den Kongelig militær Klædefabrik ligger ved den vandrige Usserød Å, der fra sit udspring i Sjælsø til udløbet i Øresund falder 18 meter.Klædefabrikken er udvidet og ombygget adskillige gange i løbet af 1800- og 1900-tallet. I 1888 tilføjedes et maskin- og kedelhus i røde mursten umiddelbart bag midterfløjen, og året efter en vinkelformet farveribygning i gule mursten.Usserød Klædefabrik er et af de få bevarede eksempler på den tidlige vandkraftbaserede industri i Danmark. Klædefremstilling var en af de første brancher, hvor produktionen blev mekaniseret. Bygningerne er velbevarede og et fint eksempel på genanvendelse af et nedlagt industrianlæg.
