  • PricewaterhouseCoopers will offer Novell Nsure solutions as part of its global identity management practice
  • Deloitte& Touche reaffirms its long-standing relationship with Novell in the delivery of identity-based solutions

Lending strength to its launch today of Novell® Nsure™ secure identity management solutions, Novell received a show of support from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte& Touche LLP and a number of other solution providers. The company was joined in an online press conference by PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte& Touche, who outlined plans to work with Novell in delivering secure identity management solutions to global customers.

PricewaterhouseCoopers announced it would offer Novell Nsure solutions as part of its global Security Integration Services practice and has named Novell as one of its go-to-market alliance vendors. In particular, Novell will provide key identity management technology, based on its industry-leading directory and metadirectory services.

"Novell understands that strong identity management is the basis for solid enterprise security and better, more personalized collaboration over the Internet," said Kurt Gilman, partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers Security and Privacy Practice. "We're working with Novell to deliver identity management solutions that help companies tighten security, enhance operational efficiency and work more effectively with employees, customers and partners."

Deloitte& Touche reaffirmed its long-standing relationship with Novell in the delivery of identity-based solutions. Novell's technology plays an important role in Deloitte& Touche's identity management offering, known as i-MAAP™. Most recently, Deloitte& Touche and Novell announced an identity management solution for SAP*-enabled companies. The Identity for SAP solution allows companies to maximize the return on investment from their SAP deployment by providing real-time integration between SAP HR and other enterprise systems.

"The need to provide system access to an ever-widening group has brought with it increased risk exposure from both internal and external sources," said Matt Weber, Deloitte& Touche Security Services principal. "Strong identity management can mitigate that risk. Working with Novell, we're helping companies create an identity-driven infrastructure, where people have real-time access to the resources they need, based on who they are - which also eliminates unauthorized access."

Novell Nsure solutions present tremendous opportunities for the company's solution provider partners as well. In particular, Novell's announcement today of Novell Nsure Resources™, the company's first packaged solution for provisioning employee access to resources, will allow channel partners to solve identity-related business problems even without the same consulting resources as large systems integrators.

"Many of our clients spent much of the last decade aggressively building out their IT infrastructures, adding dozens of applications and platforms, and now they're having an extremely difficult time getting all those systems to work together securely," said Doug Ouzts, Novell practice manager for Novell Platinum PartnerSM Alphanumeric Systems, Inc. "That problem represents a tremendous opportunity for secure identity management solutions. With Novell Nsure Resources, for example, we can help a client minimize the productivity lag and improve service when new employees are brought on board; and system access can be revoked just as quickly when an employee leaves the company, protecting corporate security."

Mike Giovia, Novell vice president of Global Alliances, added, "Novell's vision of one Net becomes reality for customers only with the support and cooperation of strong industry alliances. Deloitte& Touche, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Alphanumeric and many others have seen the tremendous opportunity in Novell Nsure solutions - and together we're going to attack and lead this market."
