Novell teams with BEA Systems to secure and power Net Business
Partnership between Novell and BEA joins best-of-breed directory and security services with industry-leading eBusiness platform Partnership builds on long-time BEA and Cambridge Technology Partners alliance to build comprehensive eBusiness infrastructure solutions
Novell, Inc., the leading provider of Net Business solutions, today announced it has signed an agreement with BEA Systems, one of the world's leading application infrastructure software companies, to build solutions that quickly secure and empower relationships across the Internet. The companies will provide proven, industry-leading solutions and services that help customers manage their business on the Internet more easily, securely and cost effectively.
The first fruits of this partnership, the Novell® Secure Partner Portal announced in November 2001, integrates Novell's industry-leading services for security and access with the BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform™ to provide a secure, cost-effective way for organizations to manage and expand relationships with key partners, suppliers and customers. This partnership builds on the long-standing alliance between BEA Systems and Cambridge Technology Partners, Novell's global eServices division acquired in 2001, which has delivered numerous eBusiness infrastructure solutions around solidifying and enhancing customer and partner interaction through the Internet.
"BEA and Novell enjoy a shared vision for building the secure, reliable, and highly scalable eBusiness infrastructure critical to trusted B2B relationships," said Scott Edgington, vice president and general manager, Global Software Partners, BEA Systems. "Novell's acquisition of our long-standing integration partner, Cambridge Technology Partners, opened the door to building solutions based on Novell and BEA software. The combination of BEA and Novell technology provides the foundation for powerful solutions to customer challenges."
Cambridge Technology Partners has delivered more than $120 million in BEA-related services over the last two years, building solutions that optimize supplier/partner extranets and private exchanges, deliver coherent and scalable eBusiness architectures, and personalize service to improve customer relationships and drive revenue. Customers that have benefited from Cambridge solutions on the BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform include Office.com, the Australian Tourist Commission, Gehrling and GMAC. BEA and Novell are exploring ways to deliver additional best-of-breed solutions leveraging their respective technical strengths.
"In today's tough business climate, customers are demanding solutions that are proven, secure and offer a compelling return on investment," said Brendan McLaughlin, vice president for supplier solutions in Novell's Strategic Services Group. "Novell is joining forces with BEA because we both have a strong track record in delivering solutions that enable online collaboration and transactions between business partners. With Novell eDirectory™ and iChain® services, Novell brings secure authentication, management and control capabilities designed to offer a low-risk investment with a high return. Joining this important component with BEA's industry-leading WebLogic platform is a real win for our joint customers."
