For TAG Aviation, the Sky's the Limit with Novell Open Enterprise Server
TAG Aviation turns down Windows for seamless transition path to Linux
TAG Aviation, a world leader in corporate aviation, has selected Novell® Open Enterprise Server to upgrade its system architecture and move one step closer to achieving its goal of a near total Linux* operating environment. The decision allows TAG Aviation to extend the life of its existing NetWare® installation by providing a seamless transition to Linux without needing to replace existing infrastructure. As a result, TAG Aviation will benefit from proven file, print, directory, management, collaboration and application services running on their platform of choice.
“We decided not to migrate to a Windows* operating system because Novell’s new Open Enterprise Server will enable us to maximize our existing investment in NetWare while transitioning to a new Linux-based environment,” said Moise Gerson, IT manager for TAG Aviation. “This gives us a seamless transition to Linux with lower costs today and a real roadmap for the future.”
The migration will let TAG Aviation consolidate and mix servers in a cluster environment, linking servers together so if one requires maintenance or fails, another server automatically recovers the resources from the unavailable server.
“Novell customers like TAG Aviation are continuing to experience the value of moving to Linux,” said David Patrick, vice president and general manager of Linux, Open Source Platforms and Services for Novell. “No other vendor provides a smooth and seamless transition between operating systems, and Novell is committed to helping each customer reduce operating costs and maintain their systems flexibility.”
