Success Story

With over 15,000 students, 31 school buildings, several Boards / Committee Groups, and of course parents / guardians, the Wichita Falls Independent School District (WFISD) faced multiple barriers of entry to providing a secure browser-based Portal solution. The solution not only had to meet the individual needs of all users, it had to meet budgetary constraints relating to the cost of acquisition, deployment, infrastructure, ongoing maintenance, and training. The system would also need to integrate into their existing IT structure, be LDAP compliant, specifically integrate with eDirectory, facilitate external web content management and be a secure internal portal where information and applications could be accessed by staff, students and even parents. A fairly tall order when it came to the fact that they had no developers to design this system and the district wanted it up and operational, including training, over a 1 ½ month time frame. Enter Novell and Lumen Software.

Due to the "out-of-the-box" capabilities of the Lumenation Hyper Portal, and the ability to directly integrate with eDirectory and provision all users in the system, Wichita Falls got their wish. They got a comprehensive Hyper-Portal system that met all there needs, and they got it in record time, saving them money in both product and people resources. The District was so please, they added additional "load-n-go" modules, including In-service Manager (staff development), Job Posting Management System, Website Access Analysis, Lumen Instant Messenger and Enterprise Calendar and Facility Manager.
