Positioned in the midrange server segment, the 4-way Rack server PRIMERGY R450 is a model that satisfies the growing and diversified requirements in this class to a high degree. As a solution platform for medium and large enterprises and organizations the PRIMERGY R450 server provides many extension options, improved handling and great performance bandwidths.

The Intel® Xeon™ processors MP technology provides higher utilization and performance bandwidths through the new Intel® NetBurst™ Micro-architecture including the "Hyper Threading" technology and with the additional level-3 cache. The optional Zero-Channel RAID controller kit for the SCSI onboard controller supplements onboard SCSI with RAID (level 0, 1, 10, 5 and 50) functions.

The hot-spare memory option (reserves one bank with up to 4 Gbyte) enhances the overall memory availability. Before a not correctable error occurs within one of the active memory banks, this high-availability function automatically switches over to the hot-spare memory bank in time. The onboard remote management controller provides enhanced server management functionality on standard delivery. This independent component has its own COM and LAN interfaces and an optional external power supply. It can be extended with an optional battery backup unit.

As a Rack server for server farms and data center environments the PRIMERGY R450 is well suitable for application areas like business applications, data base solutions, server consolidation, ERP and E-Commerce solutions and as nodes in fail-over cluster configurations.
