ENGL Ztoolkit 4.0 (Smart Windows Deployment)

ENGL Ztoolkit is a turn-key solution for creating an automated, modular, corporate branded Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003 build process with ZENworks for Desktops 4.x and ZENworks 6.5 and 7 Desktop Management, that reduces development and maintenance costs.

Organizations can typically spend 3 - 12 months creating an automated Windows installation that is likely to contain unsupportable batch files, scripts and utilities. Using ENGL Ztoolkit, an entire automated Windows build process can be ready for deployment within several hours.

Universal image

With Ztoolkit a single universal ZENworks base image can be created for Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003 that will restore successfully on different machine models and types. A base image can be created that only includes the operating system and major service pack.

Hotfix Installation

Using Ztoolkit Microsoft Hotfixes can be installed onto the machine without the requirement to update the base image. The Hotfixes are installed prior to hardware discovery to ensure that the machine is protected before it attaches to the network

Driver integration

Ztoolkit includes a Sysprep-wrapper that allows OEM hardware drivers to be delivered using ZENworks add-on images. As the base image no longer needs constant modification, maintenance costs and delivery times are reduced. When used with ENGL Zim, drivers images can be automatically selected and restored without user intervention. Ztoolkit also includes a driver extraction wizard that makes the process of extracting drivers quick and easy

Modular build process

The Ztoolkit build framework automates the following tasks:

1. Computer naming (automated or manual input)
2. ZENworks and NT/Active Directory registration
3. Application installation
4. Windows customization
5. Updating the Default User profile

Even the Novell Client and ZENworks Management Agent can be installed during the build process without being installing into the base image.

Custom inventory scanner

ENGL Ztoolkit can display a custom form that can be used to collect additional asset information during the build process or launched separately as a ZENworks custom inventory scanner.

Wizard configuration

The entire Windows build process can be easily configured using the Ztoolkit Build Wizard. The Ztoolkit Build Wizard will guide you through the configuration process for the Windows build and then create all of the necessary files, including ZENworks add-on images that are required.
