SEP sesam provides extremely reliable data security and data availability to all customers. It is especially designed for companies with large data back-up requirements and limited time slots available to perform back-ups.

Due to its highly scalable architecture, SEP sesam is ideally suited for small to medium sized companies as well.

Implementing the easy-to-use SEP sesam GUI, written in Java, the user is able to accomplish a cross-platform and network-wide data security back-up and restore procedure.

Our GUI enables remote administration from any authorized user regardless of computer type and location.

  • Platform Independent — All relevant Linux Distributions, UNIX derivates, Windows NT/2000/XP/2003, and OpenVMS are supported.


  • Easy Installation and Configuration — Almost no additional expenditure of administration and training.


  • Automatic Device Recognition — Storage elements are recognized upon SEP sesam installation.


  • Device Support — SEP sesam supports a wide range of tape libraries, streaming tape drives as well as providing back-up to hard disk drives.


  • Central Administration — The SEP sesam Master GUI allows remote administration and access of independent network computers employing SEP sesam. Therefore, the system administrator can be assured that company designated security procedures are followed.


  • Performance — Up to 64 simultaneous back-up streams (multiple stream) can be sent to a single device.


  • Remote Tape Server — A key component in the SEP sesam storage management software. This enables the centrally controlled data storage of a backup client to a locally attached streamer or library. The meta data is sent to the backup server.


  • Data Base Online Modules — Modules are provided for SAP R/3, Oracle, IBM DB2, Informix, MS-SQL, MS Exchange, Lotus Notes Domino, PostgreSQL, Linux Openexchange, mySQL, SAP DB...

  • SAN — SEP sesam can dynamically share single tape drives between different clients.
Security Features

  • Firewall — More important than ever. Security may be provided using one ore more Firewalls using SEP sesam. The software uses three distinct and dedicated ports to protect the host systems from unauthorized access and implements secure shell (SSH) and secure socket layer (SSL) protocols.


  • Encoding/Decoding — Our encoding/decoding algorithms prevent the possible loss of data to other parties by preventing unauthorized access to tape and other media. Data in encoded to back-up Server and decoded on restore to client/server.


  • Schedule Restore Command — To provide data integrity, automatic restore commands may be used by the system administrator.


  • Disaster recovery — SEP sesam requires only the last back-up media to complete a restore function in the event of data loss.
