Extensible Messaging Platform ( EMP 5 ), is a server-based, software anti-spam filter. EMP employs multiple message envelope heuristics to reject spam outright at the SMTP port, as well as providing powerful pattern recognition message content filtering.

EMP is typically installed on your GroupWise server (although it can also be installed on your UNIX or Windows server) and filters incoming email from the Internet, while only passing on legitimate email to GroupWise.
