Storix System Backup Administrator (SBA)
STORIX, INC.
Novell Technology Partner
product details
Storix SBA's system disaster recovery is second to none in the industry. From start to finish, a Storix user can recover a machine, either an existing one or install to a new machine with a completely different hardware configuration, have it operational and ready for data restore in minutes, rather than hours. This is NOT a typical bare-metal image restore that must be applied to the exact same hardware configuration. Storix SBA's System Installation Interface provides the user with the ability to reconfigure the OS to operate on a completely different machine. For example, if the original machine had a 36GB SCSI drive and was partition based, Storix SBA can migrate the OS and reconfigure it to run on a machine with, for example, two 80GB SATA drives, transforming the partition based configuration to an LVM, with or without software RAID. Storix SBA has the only disaster recovery functionality that is this complete and flexible. The Storix System Installation Interface can also be used to provision new systems.
Does Storix SBA compare with products like Legato or Veritas? While Storix SBA provides similar functionality, it leaves cataloging to the larger applications and, therefore, really doesn't compete with them. In fact, Storix SBA is designed for customers that find products like these much too large or unwieldy for their operations, yet need sophisticated system and data backup, in addition to a flexible and complete disaster recovery system. Its true that many companies run Storix SBA under these larger cataloged library systems, simply for its ability to rapidly recover systems. The best part is that Storix SBA provides these capabilities at a substantially lower price point, and always includes free version support.
What does this all mean? For all Linux users, Storix SBA brings substantially greater efficiencies with a net result of remarkably lower system downtime, along with an impressive reduction of downtime-associated costs. All Linux users should own this application, regardless of their current backup system!
