B-Identified Professional Edition
BIOPASSWORD INC.
Novell Technology Partner
product details
BioPassword is a patented technology based on behavioral biometrics. A behavioral biometric is a behavioral trait that can be used to verify a person's identity. How you write your signature is a good example of this type of behavioral trait. BioPassword is based on the behavioral biometric of keystroke dynamics which can verify a person's identity by the way he or she types on a keyboard. Just as each person's handwriting is unique, each person has a unique personal rhythm when typing on a keyboard.
Using BioPassword technology, B-Identified combines the way a person types on a keyboard with what a person types, his or her Windows user name and password. This combination dramatically improves the strength and protection offered by the Windows logon process, which in turn increases the security of your computer.
B-Identified prompts anyone logging onto a Windows computer to provide "something they know" (his or her user name and password) with "something they are" (his or her personal typing rhythm). Only when these two types of identification are provided and verified is the person allowed access to the computer.
As a software-only solution, B-Identified has the advantage over other, more expensive, user authentication solutions such as fingerprint readers or security tokens. It requires no hardware beyond a standard keyboard and no special knowledge to use or to maintain. In addition, it can be easily combined with existing security tools already in place.
Product Highlights
- B-Identified is software-only with guaranteed low acquisition costs as there is no hardware to purchase, and no hardware maintenance costs in the future.
- B-Identified promotes high user acceptance. Seamless integration with Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP and the standard Windows logon process means there is nothing new for your users to learn or do.
- B-Identified safeguards computer resources from being improperly accessed via Safe Mode.
- B-Identified prompts anyone using Safe Mode to authenticate by typing his or her user name and password, or password only.
- B-Identified maintains the convenience of fast user switching while increasing computer security. When B-Identified is used with fast user switching, each user is prompted to type his or her password which B-Identified then uses to authenticate the person as a legitimate user of the computer.
