product details
The user is able to easily configure the output format which can be csv, xml, etc. The user is able to perform fast and selective unload of data from Oracle which effectively utilizes the multi-processor environment. At the same time, FastReader automatically prepares input for high-speed loaders such as Oracle SQL*Loader, bcp, etc. WisdomForce™ FastReader™ works on major databases, including Oracle, DB2, MSSQL, MySQL, Sybase.
FastReader supports most operating systems and platforms: Sun Solaris, HPUX, AIX, Tru64, Windows, Novell SUSE/RedHat Linux/386, IA64.
Customers are using WisdomForce FastReader when:
- Creating or updating a test environment with most recent data from production database.
- Performing high speed initial data synchronization before starting replication.
- Fast migration of data from Oracle to DB2, SQL Server or other database.
- Creating backups of large tables for Network Attached Storage (NAS).
Very often a Database Administrator (DBA) has to copy an extremely large table from one production database instance to another. Using regular native database export/import is slow and adds a significant overhead on the production environment. DBA might create a transportable tablespace, detach it from one instance, and attach it to another. Building tablespaces on NFS is not allowed (excluding NetApp). Wisdom FastReader resolves this issue by unloading data from the tablespace, residing on a regular disk or SAN into a text file on NFS or another NAS mounted device. - Performing fast selective backup of huge tables.
Very quickly export Oracle tables into a portable text format for selected columns, and/or filter rows by setting conditions. - Performing upgrade of databases in a production environment.
- Have a need quickly check the data from columns with CLOB data type
