product details
Most organizations now have well-developed backup strategies to protect their data using backup or replication to tape and secondary disk. However, disaster recovery can be complex and time consuming requiring machines to be rebuilt from scratch and backup installation software to be installed before any data recovery can commence. To recover a whole data centre manually could take weeks and this can put enormous strain on an organization's resources.
With CBMR all that is required for recovery is a standard CBMR boot CD and an IP connection to the network containing the CBMR backups. Multiple servers can be recovered simultaneously and the recovery process normally only takes a few minutes for each machine. The time taken to recover a whole data centre can therefore be reduced dramatically, to just a few hours.
CBMR for Linux offers:
- Disaster Recovery (DR) configuration may be saved to floppy disk, memory stick or network share (NFS or SMB)
- Logical Volume Manager support (versions 1 and 2)
- Command line, curses-based and X-Windows based user interfaces
- Integration with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
- Integration with Cristie Storage Manager
- Support for IDE, SCSI, SATA, Fibre or hardware RAID disks of similar or different sizes
- Tape Libraries with LSM bar code support
- Supports SAN and fibre channel installations
- During DR process boot either from supplied CD or network using PXE
- Full interoperability with Cristie UBAX for Linux - means DR backups can be restored from the multitude of devices supported by UBax
