product details
The I/O Concepts Enterprise Management suite of products has been designed to give customers secure remote or local access to their enterprise computing platforms.
Each product has been designed to address specific needs within an organization such as:
- Regulatory Compliance and audit ability (Sox, HIPAA etc.)
- Security using SSL or SSH
- Centralized user authentication using your existing authentication repository (ACF2, LDAP, RACF, Top Secret)
- Easy to install and maintain (enterprise install in days or even hours)
- Rapid ROI (often in 4 months or less)
- 100% availability of all systems (Mainframe, AS/400, System I, Unix, Linux, Windows)
- The Enterprise Management System™ (EMS™)
- Secure Access Management System™ (SAMS™)
- Enterprise Management System for System i
- Session Security Appliance
This adds significant cost and complexity to the solution. The agents themselves need to be managed and updated on many different platforms, which, results in a unique set of time consuming and costly issues. Further, the agents consume the resources on the system they are managing, so less of that system is available for processing the application it was originally purchased for. In addition, the more parameters that are measured on the managed system, the lower the performance of that system.
The engineers at I/O Concepts looked at this growing conundrum and concluded that management systems do not have to be constructed in this manner in all cases. Some may require additional agents, but for the vast majority of computing platforms, and even devices, there were standard mechanisms built into the platform that allowed operators to extract key information about the status of a system and resolve any issues. Systems such as the IBM Z Series or 390 class Mainframes, AS/400 and i5 systems, and IBM System p5 (pSeries) servers can be effectively and powerfully managed with the EMS platform.
Because of the innovative mechanism for accessing the managed platforms and intelligence that is inherent in the solution, there are significant advantages over traditional, agent-based management systems. These advantages translate into significant value for the organization. Because each implementation is generally unique, the overall flexibility of the solution provides some degree of benefit for any computing infrastructure.
We know that regulatory compliance is a hot issue. I/O Concepts has integrated a powerful set of tools into the EMS solutions that facilitates Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy rule compliance.
