product details

For Novell® eDirectory™ customers concerned by rising security threats and the weaknesses of password authentication, ActivIdentity provides a strong token-based authentication solution fully integrated with the Novell environment to enable secure, easy and cost-effective access to network applications and resources.

The solution natively integrates with the Novell Modular Authentication Service (NMAS®) to provide secure access to Novell eDirectory and all other applications leveraging NMAS.

Features and benefits

Comply with security requirements: Address IT security and compliance requirements by preventing unauthorized access to information.

Enhanced security: Weak static passwords are replaced by strong one time passwords and two-factor authentication: something the user has (the one time password token) and something the user knows (the PIN code). The token generated password is valid only once so it cannot be replayed.

Reduced administrative costs: No third-party server is required, all user and device information is stored in Novell eDirectory. All management functions, including full token life cycle management is done within the iManager console, avoiding the need for a new management console paradigm.

Return on investment: By integrating with Novell Modular Authentication Service (NMAS) this solution enables access to all Novell products that leverage NMAS authentication.

How it works: With the ActivIdentity One Time Password NMAS Method, static passwords are replaced by two-factor authentication: the user generates a one-time password with a handheld security token. This password is valid only once so it cannot be replayed, and the token is useless without the associated PIN code.
