product details
For Novell customers looking to deploy a single secure employee ID badge for physical and logical access throughout their organization, the Smart Employee ID solution combines ActivID Card Management System (CMS) with Novell Identity Manager to streamline smart card issuance and life cycle management. This solution includes optional integration with physical access control systems for a single-step issuance that enables both physical and logical access to facilities and IT systems with a single smart card ID.
When deployed with ActivClient® middleware on end-users workstations, this solution enables smart card security for Novell clients, Windows and network login, workstation ‘locking’ and secure remote access, as well as data security, secure e-mail and digital signatures.
Features and benefits
Ease of deployment: The Smart Employee ID solutions provides seamless integration into existing IT environments for cost-efficient deployment and operation. In addition, integration with Novell Identity Manager provides user, account, credential and device provisioning. Optional integration with leading physical security systems allows physical and logical access with a single Smart Employee ID card.
Cost reduction: Most organizations have separate administrative and issuance processes user accounts, user IT credentials, physical access badges and in many cases security tokens for remote access. Maintaining separate processes results in high cost and increased security risk. The Smart Employee ID solution using Novell Identity Manager enables a streamlined provisioning process with central administration for issuance and management of physical and logical access credentials, thus increasing security, simplifying the user experience and reducing operating costs.
Productivity: In a typical organization, users must login with user names and passwords multiple times per day. With smart card authentication users login with a simplified ATM-like experience (users insert card and type PIN). Organization can add Novell SecureLogin to further automate the login experience for true Single Sign On.
Comply with security requirements: The Smart Employee ID solution with Novell Identity Manager addresses IT security and compliance requirements (e.g. Sarbanes Oxley, Gramm Leach Bliley, HIPAA, and more) by preventing unauthorized access to sensitive information and providing comprehensive audit logs.
Proven and robust: The Smart Employee ID solution with Novell Identity Manager is comprised of tightly integrated off-the-shelf products from Novell and ActivIdentity that are field proven with millions of users provisioned and smart cards issued to date.
