Before you begin to work on the ZENworks Third-Party Imaging, you need to know the following:
The ZENworks Third-Party Imaging solution does not work on VMware for operating systems other than Windows Vista because of a network card driver problem in WinPE on VMware.
Workaround: Do the following:
Close VMware.
Add the following line to the .vmx file:
ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000"
Restart VMware.
Before taking an image of the Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, or Windows 7 device, run SysPrep on the device. Later on, you must run Sysprep again on all the devices where the image is restored. This is essential because the SIDchanger is not used for ZENworks Third-Party Imaging.
ZENworks 10 Configuration Management supports only the default operations that are supported by the third-party Imaging tools. To perform advanced imaging operations that are not directly supported by ZENworks, you can use the third-party Imaging tools later. For more information on the third-party Imaging tools, see Section E.9, TFTP Client for WinPE.
If you want third-party Imaging tools to be replicated on a Satellite, the Satellite must have the same version of ZENworks 10 Configuration Management installed as that of the Primary Server.
