There's more interesting SUSE Linux Enterprise Server-related news out of SGI. Lockheed Martin has selected the SGI Altix 4700 server running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from Novell to serve as the host computing platform for the F-35 "Lightning II" Training Devices. The F-35 Lightning II is also known as the Joint Strike Fighter. And in case you missed it, SGI set yet another world record recently, this one for memory bandwidth, as an SGI Altix 4700 system running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 achieved a sustained memory bandwidth of 4.35 Terabytes per second in STREAM Triad benchmark tests.
