Perfect packages in time for the holidays

December 17, 2009 4:20 pm

The openSUSE Build Service got a boost today from openDesktop.org. The openDesktop.org network now has a feature that allows contributors to link to packages in the openSUSE Build Service directly from KDE-Apps.org and GTK-apps.org. This makes it easier for users to get software that's packaged for their Linux distro.

The openSUSE Build Service is a hosted service, sponsored by Novell, that allows developers to build packages for all major Linux distributions — including Debian, Fedora, CentOS, Ubuntu, Mandriva, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux — as well as openSUSE and SUSE Linux Enterprise.

The openDesktop.org network reaches more than two million unique visitors monthly. The link to the openSUSE Build Service will allow the project to reach a far wider audience and help Linux users of all stripes to get fast and easy access to the latest releases of their favorite software.
