Moonlight is the open source implementation of Silverlight, Microsoft's cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering a richer, interactive user experience on the web. Microsoft has endorsed Moonlight as the platform for bringing Silverlight support to Linux.
Moonlight leverages the Mono open source project (www.mono-project.com) and is an exciting opportunity for Linux users and developers to take advantage of Silverlight for rich media. Moonlight 1.0 is bundled into SUSE® Linux Enterprise Desktop 11, so you can now access Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 content and play Windows multimedia files (e.g., Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Video) on your Linux desktop. In addition, Moonlight provides a Linux software development kit that allows developers to build Silverlight applications.
