The ability to sort directory data for searches and ad hoc queries.

An indexing system in a directory is necessary to provide optimal search performance of the directory. The NDS full service directory provides the capability to build an index from any object or attribute in the directory.

Example:

In this example, the directory is searched using an index sorted by the user's first name. The index allows the information to be quickly retrieved and presented.
