Novell eDirectory - Full Service Directory
Security: Key Management
Delivers key-based credentials for inter and intra company communications.
Key management provides the keys and certificates (Certificate Authority) for a high degree of information security inside or outside the boundaries of the local organization. Key management utilizes the technology known as key pairs (public and private) and digital certificates. Key pairs are mathematically related codes or keys that provide a secure method of communication. One key in each pair is publicly distributed, while the other key in the pair remains strictly private.
Example:

A party needing to prove its identity enlists the services of a Certificate Authority (CA). A full service directory provides a CA for internal or external purposes. In this example the Novell eDirectory full service directory is providing Certificate Authority to the internal organization of Company A and for communications between itself and Company B.
