Adds or updates information about people and resources in the directory database.

The process of publication is storing data in the directory for global access. While every product that can be called a directory service has this capability, the Novell eDirectory full-service directory is distinguished by strong data management facilities that enable information discovery by people and applications.

Example:

Information about Users, printers, and other network devices can be stored in the directory. For example, a corporate address book must have a method by which to publish its data. This is accomplished typically by hand-entering the data, or, in a more sophisticated implementation, publishing data from a human resources system to the directory.
