Relationship: Reference

Maintains a link between the object and a membership list or from a membership list back to an object.

If a person is a member of group, that user object maintains a link that points to the group. The group also maintains a link back to the user object. This is an example of a double-linked reference. Additionally, if a user is a member of an organizational role the role maintains a link referencing the user object. This is an example of a single-link reference.

Example:

In this example, the Engineering group in the Engineering container has members from multiple containers. The users maintain links to the group and the group maintains a reference back to each user. The arrows indicate these reference links.
