Applies a set of rules that allows objects to be unique in the database.

Registration allows a system to enforce a set of rules about the uniqueness of objects.

Example:

An example of registration is a company that issues employee badge numbers for a company that has offices in the United States and Europe. In the Novell eDirectory full service directory a badge ID is registered with the directory and each ID is kept unique.
