Migrate to GroupWise from Microsoft Exchange
Migrate to GroupWise on Linux in Minutes

Migrate all your e-mail easily. Use the new migration utility to switch from Microsoft Exchange 5.5, Outlook 2000 or a previous version of GroupWise® and scale as your business grows.
The GroupWise 7 Migration Utility for Microsoft Exchange migrates Exchange data into a GroupWise system. Microsoft Exchange users' mailboxes are migrated completely, with the exception of rules, search folders, and junk e-mail lists. Distribution lists/groups are migrated completely, including nested distribution lists/groups. Exchange public folders are converted into standard GroupWise folders residing in one or more GroupWise resource mailboxes to which users are given proxy rights. Users' personal PST files can be imported using the GroupWise Import Utility for Microsoft Outlook.
Migrate GroupWise to Linux
Smooth the transition with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server entitlement and upcoming migration utility
From low cost, Intel-based hardware and consolidation opportunities to a wealth of open source software and freedom from vendor lock-in, the benefits of Linux are significant. And collaboration is an ideal platform for realizing these efficiencies. To help you experience the benefits of running GroupWise on Linux, Novell offers the following options.
Entitlement to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server
In addition to the rich set of collaboration features included in GroupWise 7, the product includes an entitlement to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) version 10. This entitlement allows organizations to experience the benefits of running GroupWise in a Linux environment without additional cost. Through this entitlement, customers may deploy SLES 10 on as many servers as needed to host GroupWise services for their enterprise. Instructions for taking advantage of this entitlement are provided during the GroupWise product registration process.
GroupWise customers who take advantage of this opportunity, and have purchased upgrade protection or maintenance, are entitled not only to GroupWise upgrades and security patches, but to SLES 10 upgrades and security patches, as well. Please note, however, that SLES upgrades are only applicable to servers hosting GroupWise services.
Customers can obtain technical support for SLES 10 through normal channels such as Novell Technical Support or Premium Support contracts. Running the GroupWise back end on Linux provides the following key benefits:
- Improved stability: Fewer system faults and reduced impact from other application faults
- Better application fault handling and recovery: Faster, more automated GroupWise agent restarts
- Lower impact: No database corruptions with agent crashes and minimal database corruption resulting from hardware or power failures
- Better process-management tools: Automated scripts for loading and unloading agents
