Identity Manager Driver for Asterisk
Overview
Asterisk is an open source PBX. The default method for configuring Asterisk is the Asterisk Management Portal (AMP). Configuration information is stored in flat files and a database (usually MySQL). Identity Manager for Asterisk is a unidirectional connector between eDirectory™ and Asterisk configuration files and the Asterisk database.
The Identity Manager for Asterisk connects the Asterisk configuration stores to eDirectory. During installation the eDirectory schema is extended to include the following attributes, which correspond to Asterisk configuration entries:
Devices (lines)
- hard phones
- soft phones
Users
- extensions
- voice mail
- password
- web mail
- mobile email
- internal caller ID
The driver contains an iManager plug-in called User Manager for managing adds/moves/changes to Asterisk users and devices. Thus as user information is added, changed, or deleted in eDirectory (through administrator action or self-service), the changes are automatically completed in Asterisk.
