Product Overview
Identity Manager Driver 3.5.4 for SOAP is a component of Identity Manager Integration Module for Tools. This driver meets the needs of customers seeking connectivity and identity synchronization with Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)-based applications—including Directory Service Markup Language (DSML) and Service Provisioning Markup Language (SPML)—and extending to other SOAP-enabled application protocols in the future.
As organizations adopt Web services and XML standards, XML/SOAP is replacing proprietary application program interfaces for data interchange:
- SOAP is an XML-based protocol that enables applications to exchange information over HTTP.
- DSML is an XML standard that provides XML interfaces to directories and is supported by Novell eDirectory as well as Novell exteNd Composer.
- SPML is an evolving standard in the provisioning space. It provides a way for provisioning servers to communicate with each other as well as with standardized agents within enterprise resource systems and other applications.
With Identity Manager, you can now manage the full user lifecycle on systems supporting these standards: deliver first-day access to essential resources and modify or revoke access rights instantly. When a new user is created in a system supporting these standards, the user's accounts are generated automatically on other systems according to your business rules, and any necessary resources or services are supplied.
