Archive and Version Services

Easy, cost-effective user self-recovery of deleted files.

Even though you implement backup and recovery processes to prevent major data losses, recovery of a single file is not usually a simple process. Furthermore, a file that an individual user loses often has a shorter lifecycle than major backup cycles. As a result, accidental loss of a file or attempts at recovering it can create significant costs for your organization. Archive and Version Services minimizes these costs.

By allowing users to easily self-restore files from an archive of interval-based file versions, Archive and Version Services can significantly lower helpdesk and IT administration costs. Your helpdesk or IT staff no longer have to deal with users asking for a particular file to be restored. This frees them up to focus on more important issues for your users and the organization as a whole.

Archive and Version Services also allows users to be more productive by allowing them to correct their own accidental deletions or file-modification mistakes. Since the user controls their file recovery; they don’t have to involve or wait on the IT department. They can retrieve file versions from anywhere, at any time, using a web browser with an active network or Internet connection.

Additionally, the versioning process is transparent to users until they need to retrieve a previous version of a file. It also supports collaborative work environments where groups of users can create and modify shared files. Versioning does not affect how applications behave and requires no action on the part of the user.
