Novell Teaming + Conferencing

Integrate With Your Mixed Environment

Leveraging your existing investments in IT infrastructure makes good business sense. No organization enjoys a forced migration or rip-and-replace of their infrastructure. With teaming and real-time collaboration solutions in particular, it's critical to leverage the file systems, LDAP directories, access controls, e-mail clients and personal productivity applications customers are already using.

Novell Teaming + Conferencing is fully integrated with Microsoft Office and OpenOffice.org, and Novell is working on integrating it with end-user clients, including Novell GroupWise®, Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes. Supported portals include Liferay and JBoss (open source options) and Oracle and BEA (commercial portals). Support for additional portals will be added over time.

As for databases, open source options FrontBase and MySQL and Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server (commercial) are currently supported. In addition to databases, Novell also plans to make it compatible with other data repositories through the file system. For example, an Open Enterprise Server file server or other document management system could be used as a storage location for actual files. Integrations are also being planned that will provide compatibility with enterprise applications such as CRM and ERP.

Teaming + Conferencing functions facing the end user will run on SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop and Windows. The Web conferencing feature uses a client that must be installed on the desktop and which is supported on SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10, Windows XP and Vista. Teaming functions work with a Web browser interface in Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, so you can run them on any operating system that supports these browsers. On the back end, server components run on SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server and Windows.

In addition, extra modules are available for separate purchase from Novell. These modules add functionality to enhance your teaming experience, including advanced workflow management, dynamic page content based on role, advanced search, offline capabilities, advanced reporting for team workspace and telephony interface, IM interoperability and more.

Because it is scalable to meet the needs of organizations of any size, you can rest assured that Novell Teaming + Conferencing will fit your company no matter how big or small your business is from year to year.
