Application Control

Application Control ensures that only approved applications are run on corporate IT assets. It can also force specific applications to run, such as a VPN, prior to network connection. Application Control offers management in three areas:

Location-based Application Control

This feature allows the administrator to block applications either from gaining network access, or from executing at all. If an application is allowed, it will be permitted to execute and have network access. A denied application will not be permitted to execute (launch). An application denied network access will be permitted to run, but will not have network connectivity.

Antivirus/Spyware Integrity

Novell ZENworks® Endpoint Security Management verifies that designated endpoint PC antivirus and/or anti spyware software is running and is up to date, whether the endpoint connects to the corporate network or the Internet. ZENworks Endpoint Security Management takes immediate action if endpoints fall out of compliance by placing them into safe, customizable quarantine states, preventing the spread of viruses or other contamination to the network. Remediation actions can also be initiated, and once compliance is confirmed, endpoints are taken out of quarantine. Security policy settings are automatically enforced before, during and after quarantine.

VPN Enforcement

Novell ZENworks Endpoint Security Management VPN Enforcement ensures users always connect with an authorized VPN—even at hotspots, enforcing encrypted transmission of data and secure connection to the corporate network. Additionally, VPN Enforcement protects against wireless attacks and prevents dangerous end-user behaviors such as split tunneling.
