Unauthorized guests in sensitive areas, such as your production environment, can mean a security and compliance disaster. With Novell ZENworks Network Access Control, you can finally secure and keep track of all the guests connecting to your network, using a range of secure access features.
As guests connect, ZENworks Network Access Control can immediately limit their access to sensitive areas, such as an "Internet-only" segment. Once there, ZENworks Network Access Control can test the guest for compliance with basic security requirements. If a certain class of guest, such as a contractor, needs secure access to additional network resources, you can easily create compliance policies to allow that.
Guest-specific policies
Guests require special kinds of access, and Novell ZENworks Network Access Control makes it easy to create and enforce secure access policies. Chances are, guests aren't going to let you install a permanent agent on their machines. No problem. You can test their machines non-intrusively using the ZENworks Network Access Control browser-based testing method. For example, you can't require that guests have a specific antivirus package, but you can verify that they at least have some kind of antivirus software running and that it's up to date.
In short, you can create specific secure access policies for the various categories of guests moving on and off your network. Novell ZENworks Network Access Control automatically recognizes guest devices and places them into a guest VLAN, subnet or quarantine, so they can't harm your network. It will also detect any unauthorized network bridges and deny access to devices attempting to connect through them, stopping problems before they occur.
