1.3 System Requirements

To use the Novell Identity Manager Roles Based Provisioning Module 4.0.1, you must have one of each of the required components listed in Table 1-1.

Application Server

The User Application runs on JBoss, WebSphere, and WebLogic as described below.

The User Application with JBoss 5.1 requires JRE 1.6.0_20 from Sun (Oracle) and is supported on:

  • Windows Server 2003 SP2 (32-bit only)

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit only)

  • Windows Server 2008 SP1 (32-bit and 64-bit)

  • Open Enterprise Server 2 SP3 (32-bit and 64-bit)

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP3 (32-bit and 64-bit)

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP 1 (32-bit and 64-bit)

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 (32-bit and 64-bit) and 6.0 (32-bit and 64-bit)

  • Solaris 10 (64-bit)

The User Application on WebSphere 7.0 requires the IBM J9 VM (build 2.4, J2RE 1.6.0) and Fix Pack 7 or higher. Fix Pack 7 is the minimum fix pack supported. The User Application with WebSphere 7.0 is supported on these platforms:

  • Windows Server 2003 SP2 (32-bit only)

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit only)

  • Windows Server 2008 SP1 (32-bit and 64-bit) with latest support packs

  • Open Enterprise Server 2 SP3 (32-bit and 64-bit)

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP3 (32-bit and 64-bit)

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP 1 (32-bit and 64-bit)

The User Application on WebLogic 10.3 requires JRockit JVM 1.6.0_17 and is supported on these platforms.

NOTE:The User Application supports Xen and VMWare virtualization as long as the guest operating system is one that is supported by the User Application.

Browser

The User Application supports both Firefox and Internet Explorer, as described below.

FireFox 3.6 and 4.0 are supported on:

  • Windows Vista

  • Windows 7

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11

  • Novell OpenSuSE 11.2

  • Apple Mac

Internet Explorer 8 and 9 are supported on:

  • Windows XP with SP3

  • Windows Vista

  • Windows 7

Internet Explorer 7 is supported on:

  • Windows XP with SP3

NOTE:For Internet Explorer browsers, the XML DOM (ActiveX control) from Microsoft Corporation is required for the Identity Manager Roles Based Provisioning Module 4.01 to work correctly. The version number of the XML DOM depends on the the version of Internet Explorer being used.

Database Server

The following databases are supported with JBoss 5.1.0:

  • MS SQL 2008 and MS SQL 2008 R2

  • MySQL Version 5.1

  • Oracle 11gR2

  • PostgreSQL 8.4.3 and 9.0

The following databases are supported with WebSphere 7.0:

  • DB2 9.5

  • MS SQL 2008 and MS SQL 2008 R2

  • Oracle 11gR2

  • PostgreSQL 8.4.3 and 9.0

The following databases are supported with WebLogic 10.3:

  • MS SQL 2008 and MS SQL 2008 R2

  • Oracle 11gR2

  • PostgreSQL 8.4.3 and 9.0

NOTE:For MS SQL 2008 R2, you need to use sqljdbc4.jar.
