cdrecord will not burn DVD ISO's

Environment


SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10

Situation

Executing:

cdrecord -v -data SLED-10-SP2-DVD-x86_64-GMC-DVD1.iso

you will get the similar output:

cdrecord: Found DVD+ media but DVD+R/DVD+RW support code is missing.
cdrecord: If you need DVD+R/DVD+RW support, ask the Author for cdrecord-ProDVD.
cdrecord: Free test versions and free keys for personal use are at ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/ProDVD/
cdrecord: Sorry, no CD/DVD-Recorder or unsupported CD/DVD-Recorder found on this target.
cdrecord: This version of cdrecord does not include DVD-R/DVD-RW support code.
cdrecord: If you need DVD-R/DVD-RW support, ask the Author for cdrecord-ProDVD.
cdrecord: Free test versions and free keys for personal use are at ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/ProDVD/
cdrecord: Unspecified command not implemented for this drive.
cdrecord: Data will not fit on any disk.
cdrecord: Cannot write more than remaining DVD capacity.

Burning of CD-ROM sized ISO images works fine.


Resolution

Use a seperate binary "cdrecord-dvd"

Executing:

cdrecord-dvd -v -data SLED-10-SP2-DVD-x86_64-GMC-DVD1.iso

results in a proper DVD record to DVD media.
