fix

The ZENworks for Desktops 3 / 4 version of NAL allows you to enable debug logging for many facets of NAL .  To do this, create the key HKLM\Software\NetWare\NAL\1.0\Debug.  In that key create the DWORD value for the process you want to debug and set the value equal to 1.  Then you can review the log file found in the temporary directory of the workstation by typing %temp% in windows run command line.

This is what these exported registry keys look like:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NetWare\NAL\1.0\Debug]
"Explorer"=dword:00000001
"Reporting"=dword:00000001
"Workstation"=dword:00000001
"Snapin"=dword:00000001
"SnapinEx"=dword:00000001
"IPC-WS"=dword:00000001
"Library"=dword:00000001
"Start"=dword:00000001
"Service"=dword:00000001
"IPC-User"=dword:00000001
"MSI"=dword:00000001 (only available with the use of ZENAPP32.DLL dated 7/17/2001 or newer)

The DWORD values create the following logs in the temporary directory on the workstation:

Explorer        ZAPPEXP.LOG
Reporting        ZAPPRPT.LOG
Workstation        ZAPPWSH.LOG
Snapin                ZAPPSNP.LOG
SnapinEx        ZAPPSNPX.LOG
IPC-WS                ZAPPIPCUW.LOG
Library                ZAPPLIB.LOG
Start                ZAPPSTRT.LOG
Service                ZAPPSRVC.LOG
IPC-User        ZAPPIPCU.LOG
MSI                ZAPPMSI.LOG

Note: The log files above will continue to grow over time and potentially fill up the local hard drive.  Set the DWORD value to 0 when finished obtaining the desired log file.
