Having communication timeout issues on MVS (OS-390) system running Account Management 3.0 (AM 3.0)

fix

Depending on the timeout issues there are three timeout values that can be specified in the AM 3.0 configuration file (ASAMCONF) on the MVS system using the TIMEOUT keyword. They are:

TIMEOUT.CONNECT seconds

Where seconds is the number of seconds to wait before session initiation fails. The default is 3 seconds.

TIMEOUT.READ seconds

Where seconds is the number of seconds to wait before a read fails. The default is 300 seconds.

TIMEOUT.WRITE seconds

Where seconds is the number of seconds to wait before a write fails. The default is 300 seconds.

So, for example, to change the connect timeout to 30 seconds, add the following statement to the configuration file:

TIMEOUT.CONNECT 30
