Error viewing, opening or saving attachments in GroupWise WebAccess

Error: "Internet Explorer cannot download ....drn=16336z10z0&Item.Child.id= from <domain.com>
Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site.  The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again."

cause

Internet Explorer has problems downloading files via SSL if server sends a "Cache-control:no store" header or sends a "Cache-control:no-cache" header.

fix

In a more recent case, the application of Service Pack 4 solved this problem.  Try upgrading as the first solution.

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 323308 and 815313 discuss the issue.  In our findings it was easier to resolve the problem for the customer (due to the diversity of IE versions ) by pushing out some registry settings.

  1. Start Registry Editor.
  2. For a per-user setting, locate the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

    For a per-computer setting, locate the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

  3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry values:

    "BypassSSLNoCacheCheck"=Dword:00000001

  4. Quit Registry Editor.

Another way to work around this problem is to go into c1, under the tree view go to the groupwise container which holds the owning domian for Groupwise Webaccess.  Highlight the domain | go into properties on the "GroupWiseWebAccess" object on the right | Application tab | Security | remove the check marks from the boxes under Disable Caching | Apply.  Tomcat will need to be restart before the change will take effect.
