How do I configure iSCSI when the iSCSI Target and Initiators are in different eDirectory Trees

CONFIGURATION STEPS ON THE TARGET TREE (TREEA)

1) Ensure the the iSCSI Target software has been installed on a NetWare 6.5 server.
To do this go load NWCONFIG at the servers system console:
NWCONFIG | Product Options | View/Configure/Remove install products
Here you should see an entry that looks something like:
iSCSI   1.0.0   iSCSI Target

2) Load NSSMU and create an iSCSI partition
To do this load NSSMU at the servers system console:
NSSMU | Partitions
Hit 'Ins' to create a new partition
Select the free disk space
For the Partition Type select iSCSI

3) At the NetWare 6.5 Servers system console enter the following command:
TON

4) Within ConsoleOne you see a new eDirectory object has been created, this object will look something like:

5) Create an iSCSI Initiator Object, in the target tree (TREEA), and name this the name of the NetWare server that will be the initiator. This iSCSI Initiator is located in a separate eDirectory tree (TREEB).
In this example the name of the Novell NetWare Server is 'CJANS3'
Highlight the container where the iscsi object has been created and hit 'Insert' to create a new object.
From the list of objects presented select iscsiInitiator as shown below:

Select 'Yes' when prompted with the following message:

Enter the name of the Novell NetWare Server in the separate tree (TREEB), in this example the server name is CJANS3.

6) Add the newly created iSCSI Initiator object as a trustee of the iSCSI object.

Leave the rights as default, i.e. [Entry Rights] Browse and [All Attribute Rights] Compare and Read.

7) At the iSCSI Target servers system console enter the following:
ISCSI LIST

STEPS NEEDED TO CONFIGURE ON THE iSCSI INITIATOR IN TREEB

1) At the servers system console enter the following command:
ISCSI LIST

2) It is necessary to change the "InitiatorName" details to point to the iSCSI Initiator eDirectory object that was created in the iSCSI Target Tree (TREEA), i.e. in this example from step 5) above the iSCSI Initiator name is CJANS3.
To do this enter the following:
ISCSI SET InitiatorName=iqn.1984-08.com.novell:.cjans3.novell.petridish.

In this command the iqn details have been taken from the 'ISCSI LIST' that was entered on the iSCSI Target Server, step 7) above.

NOTE: You will NOT be able to connect if you leave off the trailing '.'
