ERROR: "java.net.SocketException: Connection reset" viewing events

Novell ZENworks Handheld management 6.5 - ZHM6.5
Novell ZENworks Handheld Management 7 - ZHM7

Situation

When viewing events for the ZHM Service (the events tab on properties of the ZHM Properties in ConsoleOne), it is possible that the message "Connection reset" will be displayed as shown below:
and if debug logging is enabled as shown in TID10057038 then "java.net.SocketException: Connection reset" is seen in the log.

Resolution

Fixed in ZENworks 7 Handheld Management Service Pack 1 Interim Release 3a, see KB 3829982 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 7 Handheld Management" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Additional Information

The message is misleading: the issue happens because there are no detail available for the status message being viewed. When the patch has been applied, the message "Details not available." will be shown instead.
