Event Viewer has error & warning for IPX socket after installing the Novell for Windows Server Management Agent.

Novell ZENworks for Servers 3.0.2 - ZfS3.0.2 Management and Monitoring Service
Novell ZENworks 6.5 Server Management - ZSM6.5 Management and Monitoring Service
Novell ZENworks 7 Server Management - ZSM7 Management and Monitoring Service

Situation

After installing the Novell Windows Server Management Agent, the Windows Server Application Event log contains:

Error: Source: NT Diag, Description: N_NTDIAG5010E: socket call failed.

Warning: Source: NT FindMW Description: FINDMW001005E: Unable to create IPX socket. Make sure you have IPX installed.

Resolution

This is expected behavior if IPX is not installed / configured on the server. Turning off the messages is not an option. It will not have any impact on the HOSTMIB implementation for the Novell server agent.
